Real.video could be Our answer to Gootube's censorpship and attempted Monopolization of Social Media

 

 

Mike Adams at Natural News is launching a new social media platform to do away with Google/Youtube's censorial monopoly.

Launch date is Independence day. In anticipation of such a great concept, I sent Mike a message...

 

 

Mike, a suggestion concerning your real.video platform. PLEASE consider an option to omit stat counters, likes, shares, plays etc.

 

As an artist, I find these numbers on the screen a distraction from source material transmission, a subtle form of subliminal contamination in terms of experience. An option to omit stat counters gives your users that have no concern as to how many 'likes' they get, the choice to present materials with a cleaner, clearer and neutral visual aesthetic. Art is induces a subjective appreciation: the inclusion of stat-counters subliminally interferes with that subjectivity.

 

I also see the corporate social media platforms use stat counters to project false appearance of popularity or obscurity. Thus, perpetuating either in accordance with any given ideological agenda they wish to implement. Using a manipulatable numeric paradigm and 'trends' to affect what folks consider to be what everyone else thinks, a collectivist subversion of consensus that is Bernaysian and pernicious. Often discouraging, or deflating the volition of individuals that would be naturally inclined to post something outside what is generally considered socially agreeable.

 

Years ago, I asked all of my fb friends not to use 'like' on my posts, if someone did, I issued a friendly reminder if folks forgot, or were unaware of my boundary. If they persisted in pressing 'like' on my posts, I unfriended them. I did not want the subversion of perceived popularity, indifference, or refutation to affect the user's natural response to an idea, giving an individual a chance to resonate, without being swayed by a potentially false representation of collective opinion. I no longer use fb;I am sure you are aware as to why.

 

I shall know when a social media platform is erudite and true in intention, when they don't rely on stat-counters, or collectivist 'trends' to stimulate dopamine rushes in their users, just a pure individualist social media platform. Where substance and content are priority. Wow that would be awesome.

 

I am aware that many are hooked on the stat-counters, so at this point providing an option to omit them would be a first step.
